Honoring Jet’s memory and legacy

Thoughts about Jet, a very beloved horse and friend -

Regardless of age or circumstance, we never have enough time with our horses. They are special members of our community. We build unique and lasting bonds with them, share our happiness and our hardships, and connect deeply with their spirits.

For many of us, Jet was one of the most special Miracles’ horses. “Jet was the type of horse that made you feel that he cared about you," said one of our volunteers. He was special - greeting you in the field, approaching you when called, nickering and whinnying with greeting.

He was extremely hard-working, even-tempered and patient. This made him an ideal horse in all of our programs and a favorite to many of our riders. The white blaze on his face in his characteristic ‘question mark’ shape helped many identify him right away as they entered the arena. His gentle ways won over even the most timid riders.

Jet was hard-working, even when he’d rather be out in the pasture with his buddies. A regular in Adaptive Riding and Hippotherapy, he gave his all to each class and shared his heart with each rider. Jet knew how to connect, how to strengthen that rider, how to heal. Not all horses have that power. Jet was a true ambassador to the mission of Miracles.

The connections he made will live on with all who knew him. We carry him with us and we honor him by continuing his work. Jet’s legacy is not loud, it is not wild. It runs calm, and deep and true like a river. The landscape is forever changed because of his influence.
